a, US Government Agency.
- How long has Camco Community FCU been in business?
Our credit union was chartered by the federal government in December 1957. We were originally known as Barrington Fiberglas FCU serving the employees of Owens Corning Fiberglas. In 1986 we revised our name to Barrington Federal CU and served additional employee groups. Earlier in 1999 we were approved by our regulator, the National Credit Union Administration to serve the community of Bellmawr at which time we changed our name to Camco Community FCU.
- Does the Credit Union have everything a bank offers?
Each credit union is different depending on it's size and staff. Refer to our list of programs and services currently available. Keep in mind that we plan to expand to other financial services as we grow in the community.
- Why would I prefer doing business with a credit union instead of a bank?
Generally credit unions can offer the members a little better return on their savings, lower interest rates on loans, and much lower fees. Credit unions also tend to "know" their members more than banks "know" their customers and can provide a more personal service.
- Who owns Camco Community FCU?
We all do! Once you become a member of the credit union, you are a part owner. Credit unions are member owned and operated. A member of the credit union with an account in good standing can serve as a volunteer on the Board of Directors or Supervisory Committee. The credit union holds elections for the Board annually with an annual meeting of membership held each spring.
